L'Ecurie (The Stable) is a spacious (65 m2) gîte newly converted from a south-facing section of a large stone barn that forms one boundary of the courtyard. Its walls are clothed with vines and roses and the patio area is a sheltered sun trap ideal for obtaining that all over tan.
Retaining the ancient oak beams and limestone walls, it has been renovated to a high standard to sleep up to 4 in a double and a twin bedroom. There is also a sofa bed in the living room and space for an extra bed or cot in the twin bedroom if necessary.
Ground Floor
The entrance is via the south facing terrace. This is the perfect spot to make the most of the warm charentaise sunshine and is surrounded by flower filled low walls. There is a teak table and chairs and a BBQ for those long summer evenings.
The entrance opens into the spacious living room with exposed beams and stone walls. The kitchen area is comprehensively equipped and includes a gas cooker with oven, refrigerator with freezing compartment and a microwave with grill. The dining table seats 4 and there are two sofas in the sitting area, either of which can be converted to a double bed if necessary.
The modern flat-screen TV receives UK channels (BBC, ITV, Ch4 etc.) via satellite and non-subscription French terrestrial digital channels.
The bathroom is through a door from the living room and has a toilet, washbasin and shower.
First Floor
Stairs lead from the living room to the spacious bedrooms - A twin and a double each with the usual storage facilities. They both have exposed stone walls and ancient oak beams.
We provide all bedding and also bath and hand towels. Additional equipment includes a clothes airer, ironing board and iron. There is a radio/CD player but please bring your own CDs (our musical taste may not be to your liking!).
